18 And Gad came that day to David, and said to him, Go up, rear an altar to the Lord in the threshing floor of Araunah the Jebusite

19 And David, according to the saying of Gad, went up as the Lord commanded

33 And the fourth division was of the children of Levi, Gad, and Asher, and they resolved to go into the midst of the Egyptians to confound them, and Moses said to them, Remain in your stations and fear not, only call to the Lord that he may save you out of their hands

40 And they buried Reuben and Gad on this side Jordan, in Romia, which Moses had given to their children

2 The children of Gad and the children of Reuben came and spoke to Moses, and to Eleazar the priest, and to the princes of the congregation, saying,

6 And Moses said to the children of Gad and to the children of Reuben, Shall your brethren go to war, and shall you sit here?
40.
25 And the children of Gad and the children of Reuben spoke to Moses, saying, your servants will do as my lord commandeth
41.
29 And Moses said to them, If the children of Gad and the children of Reuben will pass with you over Jordan, every man armed to battle, before the Lord, and the land shall be subdued before you; then you shall give them the land of Gilead for a possession:
42.
31 And the children of Gad and the children of Reuben answered, saying, As the Lord has said to your servants, so will we do
43.
34 And the children of Gad built Dibon, and Ataroth, and Aroer,
44.
14 For the tribe of the children of Reuben according to the house of their fathers, and the tribe of the children of Gad according to the house of their fathers, have received their inheritance; and half the tribe of Manasseh have received their inheritance:
45.
13 And these shall stand on mount Ebal to curse; Reuben, Gad, and Asher, and Zebulun, Dan, and Naphtali
46.
20 And of Gad he said, Blessed is he who enlarges Gad: he dwells as a lion, and tears the arm with the crown of the head
47.
12 And the children of Reuben, and the children of Gad, and half the tribe of Manasseh, passed over armed before the children of Israel, as Moses spoke to them,

24 And Moses gave inheritance to the tribe of Gad, even to the children of Gad according to their families
49.
28 This is the inheritance of the children of Gad after their families, the cities, and their villages

7 But the Levites have no part among you; for the priesthood of the Lord is their inheritance, and Gad, and Reuben, and half the tribe of Manasseh, have received their inheritance beyond Jordan on the east, which Moses the servant of the Lord gave them

7 The children of Merari by their families had out of the tribe of Reuben, and out of the tribe of Gad, and out of the tribe of Zebulun, twelve cities

9 And the children of Reuben and the children of Gad and the half tribe of Manasseh returned, and departed from the children of Israel out of Shiloh, which is in the land of Canaan, to go to the country of Gilead, to the land of their possession, of which they were possessed, according to the word of the Lord by the hand of Moses

10 And when they came to the borders of Jordan, that are in the land of Canaan, the children of Reuben and the children of Gad and the half tribe of Manasseh built there an altar by Jordan, a great altar to see to
54.
11 And the children of Israel heard say, Note, the children of Reuben and the children of Gad and the half tribe of Manasseh have built an altar over against the land of Canaan, in the borders of Jordan, at the passage of the children of Israel
55.
13 And the children of Israel sent to the children of Reuben, and to the children of Gad, and to the half tribe of Manasseh, into the land of Gilead, Phinehas the son of Eleazar the priest,
56.
15 And they came to the children of Reuben, and to the children of Gad, and to the half tribe of Manasseh, to the land of Gilead, and they spoke with them, saying,
57.
21 Then the children of Reuben and the children of Gad and the half tribe of Manasseh answered, and said to the heads of the thousands of Israel,
58.
30 And when Phinehas the priest, and the princes of the congregation and heads of the thousands of Israel which were with him, heard the words that the children of Reuben and the children of Gad and the children of Manasseh spoke, it pleased them
59.
31 And Phinehas the son of Eleazar the priest said to the children of Reuben, and to the children of Gad, and to the children of Manasseh, This day we perceive that the Lord is among us, because you have not committed this trespass against the Lord, now you have delivered the children of Israel out of the hand of the Lord
60.
32 And Phinehas the son of Eleazar the priest, and the princes, returned from the children of Reuben, and from the children of Gad, out of the land of Gilead, to the land of Canaan, to the children of Israel, and brought them word again
61.
34 And the children of Reuben and the children of Gad called the altar Ed, for it shall be a witness between us that the Lord is God
62.
26 And the sons of Zilpah, Leah's handmaid; Gad, and Asher: these are the

16 And the sons of Gad; Ziphion, and Haggi, Shuni, and Ezbon, Eri, and

17 And when Leah saw that she had left bearing she also took her handmaid Zilpah and she gave her to Jacob for a wife and Jacob also came to Zilpah and she also bore Jacob two sons Gad and Asher

“We should probably take Gad along with us,” mused Moshe
72.
Startled, Youssaf reached out a restraining hand toward Moshe’s shoulder as a now thoroughly cowed Gad leaped to his feet, standing stiffly at attention while his downcast gaze was fixed in the general direction of Moshe’s feet
73.
As Pharaoh momentarily subsided, Gad, in a voice quivering with fear and sinking almost to a prostrate position, retold his story
74.
Moshe, offering a large smile of encouragement, answered, “Good! Then Gad, it shall be you who will show me the way
75.
“I suppose you’re right,” Moshe confirmed, then suddenly asked, “Where is he?” and quickly looking around saw that Gad had also stopped to peer intently at the riders
76.
“Hey, Gad!” he shouted, “Over here! Come on over here!”
77.
In the time that it took Gad to rejoin them, the dust had resolved itself into a small troop of horsemen carrying long thin shafts in an upright position
78.
“What’s done is done” came the faint, quavering voice of Gad, as he slowly rose from the safety he had sought at the beginning of the swift action
79.
Moshe was now riding at the head of the herd, having summoned Gad to him while on the way there
80.
“Is your home near the entrance to the town?” Moshe asked of Gad
81.
Falling more than sliding off his mount in front of one of the huts, Gad lurched inside, then back out again almost immediately
82.
Gad wrinkled a brow as he answered, “It isn’t likely! If they’ve had trouble, why go just that far? What do we do now? Wait for the rest to catch up?”
83.
The lengthening shadows of day’s end were upon the town as Moshe and Gad rode slowly in
84.
“The Egyptians couldn’t have heard that we were coming and laid a trap for us, could they?” Gad asked in a voice full of dread as he slid clumsily from his horse and, at Moshe’s sign, crept warily toward the door of the second dwelling which stood partly open
85.
Moshe watched as Gad pushed gingerly on the door with the tip of his fingers, while peering intently into the darkness beyond it
86.
“I was a laborer in that army,” replied Gad now more confidently, “and I barely escaped that water with my life!”
87.
“I should have recognized your voice!” Gad continued
88.
“Well!” Moshe continued, “Then the vizier sent Myserrah to check on the story that Gad told Pharaoh on what had happened to his army
89.
“Oh?” asked the quavering voice from out of a corner of the room that father and son had retreated to, “My Gad has been before Pharaoh?”
90.
On his way to where Judah was leading horses out of the larger herd, Moshe came to where Gad and his father had bedded down with the drovers
91.
He thought as Gad was seen racing down from the lookout position he had been assigned to, while pointing in the direction of the town
92.
Moshe, with Gad in tow, moved to intercept them as they skirted the much larger outer edges of the encampment
93.
How Gad has changed
94.
“That’s the way I remember it too,” confirmed a now more assertive Gad
95.
“You shall ride with Youssaf and me! Gad, you and, ah—Joshua and—ah—Caleb, form up behind us
96.
Gad fell on his knees as they approached, crying, “It was me! It was me, Moshe! I had trouble with my sword in getting off
97.
Gad and Naaman had shepherded their people to him in time, and they carried with them weapons fashioned from whatever could be found as Moshe had directed
98.
Mounted now, Moshe, Yigal, Benjamin, Rimmon, plus Gad, Joshua and Caleb, with Youssaf to anchor the other end, sat tensely alert
